Born in Poland to Greek parents, Apostolis Anthimos is one the country’s most interesting instrumentalists to bridge the gap between the aesthetics of jazz and fusion. Although his first steps into music were made with the help of a guitar, ‘Lakis’ is an equally captivating drummer and keyboard player. Since 1971 he has been the member of SBB, one of Poland’s leading
progressive rock groups.

He played also in the early 70s with Niemen, very famous Polish avant-garde musician. The 1980s saw the beginning of his
co-operation with Tomasz Stanko, both on stage and in the studio („C.O.C.X.”, „Lady Go”, „Chameleon”).

During the years spent in Greece Anthimos was a much sought-after side musician, travelling around the globe as
George Dalaras drummer. In 1994 his debut solo album „Days We Can’t Forget” was finally released
(guest musicians included Gil Goldstein, Matthew Garrison, Paul Wertico, Jim Beard and Sugar Blue).
Anthimos was also in charge of the band Theatro, but for more than a decade now he has performed with his own trio
(assisted by Gary Husband and Etienne Mbappe). He remains a regular recording and performing artist.

Apostolis’s gigs mingle the finesse and sophistication of jazz with the energy of fusion, covering his solocompositions.
“Apostolis Anthimos Parallel Worlds” is a new pr oject which blends the rock & blues sound of his guitar with the rock-jazz ambientof his drums.

This unique quartet is just perfect: very cosy and refined, however with the pulsating groove and energy.
Music for the real connoisseur as well novices who start listening to jazz.

Apostolis Anthimos, urodzony w Polsce Grek, uznawany jest za jednego z najciekawszych instrumentalistów. Gitarzysta z powołania, perkusista z zamiłowania. Nieodłącznie kojarzony z bluesem (Dżem, Krzak, SBB), ale również z jazzem i rockiem – muzyką fusion.

We wczesnych latach 70. grał z Czesławem Niemenem. Współpracował z Tomaszem Stańko – grając na jego albumach na perkusji, grywał z Patem Metheny, Gilem Goldsteinem, Paulem Wertico, Tomaszem Szukalskim, Jimem Beardem.
„Miniatures” to tytuł czwartej autorskiej płyty Apo, a zarazem absolutnie premierowy materiał, w którym ten niezwykły muliti-instrumentalista w zupełnie nowy sposób aranżuje utwory z płyt ‘Theatro’, ‘Back to the North’, ‘Days we can’t forget’ i w końcu ‘Miniatures’. Nie brakuje także nowych kompozycji.

Prowadził zespół Theatro, a od ponad dekady gra również z własnym trio – w polskiej oraz międzynarodowej odsłonie, gdzie wspomagają go Gary Husband i Etienne Mbappe. Regularnie nagrywa i koncertuje na całym świecie – czy to z SBB,
czy solo – z własnymi projektami.

Geboren in Polen, aber mit den griechischen Würzeln ist Apostolis Anthimos einer der interessantesten Instrumentalisten des Landes, der die Lücke zwischen der Ästhetik des Jazz und Rock füllt. Obwohl seine ersten Schritte in die Musik mit der Gitarre gemacht wurden, Apostolis ist ein ebenso toller Schlagzeuger, Bassist und Keyboarder.

Seit 1971 ist er Mitglied der legendären Gruppe SBB, die lange Zeit mit dem bekannten Sänger Niemen spielte und die zu den führenden Progressive-Rock-Gruppen zählt. In den 80en Jahren arbeitete Apostolis mit Tomasz Stanko, sowohl auf Bühne als auch im Studio (Alben: „C.O.C.X.”, „Lady Go”, „Chameleon”). Binnen der Zeit, die er in Griechenland verbracht hat, Apostolis war ein gefragter Musiker – reiste ebenfalls rund um den Globus mit George Dalaras als Schlagzeuger seiner Gruppe. Im Jahre 1994 hat er sein erstes Solo-Album „Days We Can’t Forget” veröffentlicht (mit den Gastmusikern: Gil Goldstein, Matthew Garrison, Paul Wertico, Jim Beard und Sugar Blue).

Anthimos war auch Leader der Gruppe „Theatro”, aber seit mehreren Jahren tritt er mit seinem eigenen Trio auf und wird von
Gary Husband und Etienne Mbappe (beide Mitglieder von John McLaughlin Band) unterstützt. Er ist ein aktiver Künstler, nimmt regelmäßig an diversen Aufnahmen teil.

Derzeit ist Apostolis Anthimos auch an einer Reihe von Projekten beteiligt, wobei das Hauptprojekt sein Trio ist (Anthimos / Husband / Mbappe) und ein neues Projekt Parallel Worlds.

„Apostolis Anthimos Parallel Worlds” ist sein neues Projekt, das den Rock & Blues Sound seiner Gitarre mit dem Rock-Jazz-Ambiente seines Schlagzeugs verbindet. Dieses einzigartige Quartett ist einfach perfekt: sehr gemütlich und raffiniert, allerdings mit pulsierendem Groove und Energie. Musik für echte Kenner, aber auch für Anfänger, die gerade angefangen haben, Jazz anzuhören.

Die Live-Auftritte dieser Gruppe vermischen sich – die Finesse und die Eleganz des Jazz mit der Energie des Rock.
